Terms of service
These are the terms that govern your use of Compress Me at comprs.me. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the service.
The service
Compress Me converts long URLs into short URLs of the form comprs.me/xxxxxx. The basic service is free and available without an account. Creating a free account unlocks higher rate limits and a dashboard for managing your links. Paid plans add features such as custom slugs, custom domains, and richer analytics — see the pricing page.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Compress Me to shorten URLs that:
- Distribute malware, viruses, ransomware, or any malicious software
- Host phishing pages or other credential-theft attempts
- Distribute sexual content involving minors, or other content illegal in the UK or EU
- Incite violence, hatred, or discrimination against any group
- Promote, sell, or facilitate fraudulent schemes
- Violate copyright or other intellectual property rights
- Are part of a spam, bulk-messaging, or affiliate-flooding campaign
- Are used to harass, dox, or threaten any individual
- Bypass technical access controls of other websites or services
Use of Compress Me to do any of the above is grounds for immediate disabling of the offending links and termination of any associated account, with no refund.
Abuse reporting and disabling
We accept abuse reports through the report form or abuse@comprs.me. We may disable any link at our sole discretion if we believe it violates these terms, is on a third-party blocklist, or is part of an active phishing or malware campaign. Disabled links return a "link disabled" page to clickers and can no longer redirect.
Account holders whose links are repeatedly disabled may have their account suspended.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
One person may hold multiple accounts only if each represents a genuinely separate use (e.g. a personal account and a business account). Creating accounts to circumvent rate limits or evade prior suspension is not allowed.
Paid subscriptions
Compress Me offers paid subscription plans (currently Starter and Pro) billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are shown on the pricing page and are quoted in GBP, inclusive of any applicable taxes. Payment is processed by Stripe; we don't store card details ourselves.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period — monthly or yearly, whichever you chose — until you cancel. The renewal charge uses the same payment method you provided.
Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain paid-tier features until then. After cancellation, your account drops to the Free tier; your existing links and click data remain.
14-day money-back guarantee. Paid subscriptions begin immediately on payment, and you can use paid features straight away. If you cancel within 14 days of your first paid charge on an account, email hello@comprs.me from the registered email address and we'll refund that payment in full. This guarantee applies once per account, to the first paid subscription only. Renewal payments, subsequent plan changes, and second-or-later subscriptions on the same account are non-refundable; cancelling after the 14-day window does not entitle you to a pro-rata refund of the current period.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Existing subscribers will be notified by email at least 30 days before any price increase affects them; you can cancel before the change takes effect if you don't agree.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry the charge over a few days and we'll email you. If we can't collect payment after the retry period, your subscription will end and your account will drop to the Free tier.
Service availability
We provide the service on a "best effort" basis. We don't guarantee any specific uptime, availability, or speed. The service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, technical issues, or reasons outside our control.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We'll try to give reasonable notice of significant changes that affect existing accounts.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Compress Me, its operator, and its hosting providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. This includes loss of profits, data, traffic, or goodwill.
If we are found liable to you for any reason, our maximum liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months, or £100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence).
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Compress Me, its operator, and its hosting providers from any claim, loss, damage, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your use of the service.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account through the account settings page.
We may terminate or suspend your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to breach of these terms. Outstanding obligations (e.g. indemnity) survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We'll update this page when these terms change. For substantial changes that affect existing accounts, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect.
